Products - Changing the VAT Level for food products
Explore the impact of changing VAT levels on various food products and understand how it affects pricing and consumer behaviour.

Follow the steps below to adjust your VAT in the product and product group settings of your Backoffice.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Log in to your Backoffice
Go to: https://.myplace.dish.co/
Example: https://germany.myplace.dish.co/
If you cannot log in, please contact the support hotline to reset your password.
2. Open the Products section
- In the menu on the right-hand side, click Products.
- A submenu appears, click Products again.
3. Filter for food products
- You will now see an overview of all products created on your POS.
- Use the Product Group dropdown to select the groups that contain food items.
4. Include additional relevant product groups
Check if you also have groups such as Take Away, Specialties, or any category that might include food items, and select them as well.
5. Review the list of food products
You now see all food products.
The VAT level is shown in the 7th column.
6. Change VAT
- Click on the VAT entry.
- A dropdown opens, select your preferred VAT rate.
7. Repeat for all relevant products
Update all products.
8. Double-check your changes
Before proceeding, verify that every required product has a VAT. All updated products are indeed eligible for the reduced VAT
9. Update the default VAT level of product groups (if applicable)
- If a product group contains only food products, update its default VAT level too.
- Go to Products → Product Groups.
10. Edit the product group
- Click the pencil icon of the group you want to update.
- Change the Default VAT level.
- Save your changes.
11. Check the price management rules
- Navigate to Products and then to Price Management.
- Check if there are any price rule sets.
- If there are rules, check if any of them affect a VAT change.
- If so, this needs to be checked because these rules overrule the VAT level of the product.
All existing facilitis for takeaway sales must remain as they are.
12. Send the new configuration to your POS
To send the configuration:
- Go to General → General in the right-hand menu.
- Click SEND.
It may take up to 5 minutes for the new configuration to reach your DISH POS, depending on your internet connection.
