How to Exchange the Battery Cover for the POS Handheld (Sunmi L2s Pro)

Table of Contents

Step 1: Locate the battery cover Step 2: Find the lock switch Step 3: Turn the switch to unlock Step 4: Remove the cover Step 5: Compare old and new cover Step 6: Insert the replacement cover Step 7: Press down along all edges Step 8: Lock the cover Done Troubleshooting

If the battery cover on the back of your L2s Pro handheld is damaged, loose, or needs replacing, follow the steps below. This takes about 2 minutes and requires no tools.

Before you start:

  • Power off the handheld.
  • Have the replacement battery cover ready.
  • Work on a flat, clean surface — the cover has a locking latch that's easy to misplace if it's ever fully detached.

Step 1: Locate the battery cover

The battery cover is the large panel on the back of the handheld, below the camera and NFC/contactless icon. This is the part you'll be replacing.

Step 2: Find the lock switch

At the bottom of the cover, there's a round lock switch with two pictograms next to it — an open padlock (unlocked) and a closed padlock (locked).

Step 3: Turn the switch to unlock

Turn the switch counter-clockwise toward the open padlock icon on the left. You'll feel it click into the unlocked position.

Step 4: Remove the cover

Once unlocked, lift the cover away from the device starting at the bottom edge, near the latch. The battery stays in place, you're only removing the outer cover.

Step 5: Compare old and new cover

Set the old cover aside and check the replacement cover has the same latch mechanism and contact points before fitting it.

Step 6: Insert the replacement cover

Align the replacement cover with the edges of the housing, making sure the latch lines up with the lock switch opening before pressing down.

Step 7: Press down along all edges

Press firmly along each edge (top, bottom, and both sides) until the cover sits flush with no gaps.

Step 8: Lock the cover

Turn the switch clockwise back toward the closed padlock icon. Confirm the cover doesn't lift or shift when you gently pull on it.

Done

The battery cover is now securely attached. Power on the handheld to confirm it boots normally.

Troubleshooting

  • Cover won't sit flush: Confirm the lock switch is fully in the unlocked position before inserting. A partially turned latch will block a flush fit.
  • Cover pops open during use: Double-check the switch is turned all the way to the closed padlock icon. If it still opens, the latch mechanism may be worn and the unit should be flagged for hardware support.
