In this article, we will show you how to create a new menu article in DISH POS backoffice.
The process consists of three simple steps: creating the article, adding it to your screen menu, and sending the changes to your POS device.
Let us show you how:
Create a New Menu Article
- Start by logging in to the DISH POS Backoffice using your credentials.
- Once logged in, go to the Products section and select Products again to open the article management area. Here, you will see a list of all existing menu products.
- To add a new article, click Add Product.
- Enter the product name and select an existing product group. The product group automatically defines important settings such as VAT, menu course, and printing options.
- After selecting the product group:
- The VAT settings are assigned automatically
- The option Price includes VAT is already enabled
- Now enter the regular gross sales price for the product.
- Next, check the production attributes. These define where the item is printed, for example on the kitchen printer. By default, these settings are already applied based on the selected product group.
- If you use online menus or QR ordering, you can also add:
- A product description
- An image
- Allergen information
- When you are done, click Save.
- The new menu article is now created in the Backoffice.
Assign the Article to a Screen Menu
- To make the article visible on the POS screen, you must add it to a menu.
- Go to Menus in the left navigation and select the menu where you want to include the new article. If you want to use the article in multiple menus, repeat these steps for each one.
- Open the appropriate menu tab and expand the section where the article should appear. Product groups are displayed with their assigned colors.
- If the product group shows an asterisk (*), all articles assigned to that group are already included. In this case, no further action is required.
- If there is no asterisk, assign the article manually:
- Use the search function on the right to find the new article
- Drag and drop it into the desired menu product group
- You can add the same article to multiple menu product groups if needed. All changes are saved automatically.
Send the Changes to Your POS Device
- To apply the changes on your POS device, go to General and select General again.
- Click Send to upload the updates to the POS server.
- Please note that it can take 5 to 15 minutes for the changes to be transmitted and available on your POS device.
