In this article, we will show you how to create a new product.

Adding products to your system is a core step in building a functional and efficient menu. This guide walks you through the process of creating a new product from basic details to optional enhancements.

15 STEPS

1. We will begin this tutorial by showing you how to create a new product. On the main page, please select the "Management menu" located right below "Home"

2. Now navigate down the list under Menu Management and select Products.

3. In this overview, you can search for products, edit or delete existing products, as well as create a new product.

4. In the Products section, next to the search bar, you will find Create new product, simply click on it.

5. You will now be asked to fill in all the required information.
Info: All fields marked with an * are mandatory and will need to be filled in.
The product must be given a name. (In this example we well use: Fried Potatoes)

6. Once you Enter the name of the Product, you will need to select a VAT rate right next to it.

7. In the options given, please select the required VAT rate.

8. Now Enter your desired price right below the Name field. A price for a product is also mandatory and will need to be filled in.

9. Right below the price you will need to select a product category. Every product must be assigned to a product category.

10. Select the product category you wish to choose. In this examples we will select Food Category.

11. For the sake of the example we will choose Side dishes once we select Food category.

12. In this section you will also see Optional steps: Enable the open price feature for the item. (The price can be entered manually at the POS), right after that assign the product directly to an existing menu (to make it available to order on your POS)

13. Now set an upselling price for this product (you can choose to upsell products together with options in the option group), assign the product directly to an option group.

14. Once you Enter the details, now you can click ‘Save’ to proceed.

15. Congratulations, you completed the tutorial. You're done!

Step-by-step instructions

Accessing the Product Section

Start from the main page and click on Management Menu, located just below Home.
From there, scroll down and select Products under Menu Management. This section gives you a full overview of your product list, where you can search, edit, delete - or create new entries.

Creating a New Product

Next to the search bar, click “Create new product.” This opens the product setup form.

You’ll now need to fill in the required fields (marked with an asterisk):

  1. Product Name: Enter a clear, recognizable name (e.g., Fried Potatoes).
  2. VAT Rate: Choose the appropriate tax rate from the available options.
  3. Price: Set the product’s price - this field is mandatory.
  4. Product Category: Assign the product to a category. For example, select Food Category, then choose a subcategory like Side dishes.

Each product must belong to a category, ensuring your menu stays structured and easy to navigate.

Optional Features

The new Backoffice also offers several optional settings to enhance flexibility:

  1. Open Price: Enable this if the price should be entered manually at the POS.
  2. Menu Assignment: Add the product directly to an existing menu to make it immediately available for ordering.
  3. Upselling: Set an upselling price or link the product to an option group for add-ons and combinations.

These options help tailor the product to your specific workflow and sales strategy.

Finalizing the Product

Once all necessary details are entered, click Save. Your product is now created and ready to use.

Why It Matters

Creating products correctly ensures smooth ordering, accurate pricing, and reliable reporting. With well-structured entries and thoughtful use of optional features, you can optimize both the customer experience and your operational efficiency.

With just a few steps, your menu grows smarter.
