In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to create a gift cards.
Step-by-step
To successfully create a gift card, the following steps should be done in the Backoffice:Â
- Create a turnover group that corresponds to the tax requirements
- Create a product group for a better organisation of your products in the Backoffice
- Create the actual gift card, which results in adding a product
- Which you then can assign to the before added product group
- Create a menu and assign the gift card to it for better access of your gift cards in the POS
- Create a payment method for gift cards, so your guest can pay with them
- Assign the previously created payment method to a payment method menu
- Once all the steps have been completed, the changes have to be sent to your POS

Creating a gift card - adding a new product
The process of a creating a product as a gift card is unique, in comparison to adding common articles to your POS. You find the step-by-step instructions below.
- Under the same menu, select the submenu Products. Then, click on + Add product
- Fill in the name of the product into the corresponding text field (e.g. Gift card €10)
- Select a Product group from the given drop-down menu
- For the Turnover category, the default should be applied from the selected product group
- If the VAT is not set up for the product group, set the rate to 0% and set the checkmark for VAT included
- Enter the Price into the given field, which corresponds to the value of the gift card
- Under Process, set the Workflow to Native gift card top-on
If the Native gift card top-up isn’t visible, please contact your sales representative.
- Â For the Processing type, select Top-up
- Once everything is set up, click on Save to apply the changes
If often used, it is advisable to create multiple products related to the gift cards. For example, use the following products: GC 10 Euro where the price of this product should be €10, GC 20 Euro that has a price of €20, and GC Open Price (this option needs to be enabled in the respective product settings under the pricing).
 Creating a payment method for the gift card
Although the process of creating a new payment method is quite simple, there are things that are specific when it comes to the payment method of gift cards. You find the step-by-step instructions below.
- Click on the menu Payment, then select the submenu Payment methods
- Then click on + Add payment method
- Enter the name of the payment method (e.g. Gift Card) into the given text field
- For Payment method type, select Native gift card
If the Native gift card isn’t visible, please contact your sales representative.
- Â Choose the required currency (e.g. Euro)
- Select Voucher payment through the given drop-down menu of Fiscal reference
- Once done, click on Save to apply the changes
Sending the changes
The final step consist of sending changes to your POS, so the gift cards can be used right away. To do so, go to the main menu General and select the sub-menu General. From there, click on Send. The updates should now be effective in your POS.
You are now able to print gift cards from your POS!
The validity of a gift card is the running calendar year + 3 years. Â So, a gift card given out on May 1st 2024, is valid until December 31st 2027. Â Â

It is possible to apply a discount to a gift card, or even apply a discount to an entire order where a gift card is partially been used as payment.
