What should I know about storing my hardware?

Diaa Elhimdi Updated by Diaa Elhimdi

For businesses that operate seasonally, utilize specific hardware devices less frequently, or need to temporarily halt their activities (e.g., due to store renovations), it is essential to maintain your DISH POS hardware even during periods of inactivity.

By adhering to these simple steps, you can ensure that your devices remain in optimal working condition and are ready for use when you need them:

  • Power on devices regularly:

If your devices, such as the POS MiniServer, handheld devices, or printers, are not in use, power them on for at least 30 minutes every 4-6 weeks. This will prevent batteries from depleting and ensure that internal software remains updated.

  • Keep devices charged:

Ensure that devices are charged or plugged in when not in use. This helps avoid battery degradation, especially in devices like the POS Handheld and POS Mini Server.

  • Test hardware:

Before re-opening, conduct a basic functionality test on your POS devices, including printers, screens, and servers. Check connectivity, functionality, updates and the operation of peripherals before usage to avoid disruptions when you begin processing transactions.

  • Storage recommendations:

Store devices in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing devices in damp or dusty environments to prevent hardware damage.
